Why do Zebra's eat hay?!?!

This is the question that Delaney Liu woke me up at 3 a.m. to ask. She does not remember it, so I am thinking maybe she was dreaming out loud.( although she did say "Momma.....Momma! and waited for me to respond before asking!) She has had a bad cold, so she has been bunking with me so daddy, JiaJia, and GuaGua can get their sleep. We have our first homestudy visit tonight. After working on it all day I can now say that "this house has been cleansed!!" Yeah! Here's hoping for speedy visits and a speedy social worker!!

Finally.........!

We have our first homestudy visit scheduled for next Thursday. YEAH!! I am so anxious, expecially since we received a letter last week from the Detroit USCIS office that it is currently taking THREE MONTHS to process the I-171 AFTER they receive the homestudy and fingerprints! So, our new estimated date of getting our paperwork to China is not until February. Our poor little guy has been waiting 5 years for his family to come and get him and now it's going to be even longer. Just keep thinking good thoughts and praying for road runner like speed for our paperwork to get through the necessary steps!!!
In the meantime...Ms. Regan had her first middle school dance last Friday night. She had a great time at the dance and during the endless process of getting ready for the dance!! She looked so cute. The day after the dance, Delaney Liu decided to drop a 2-3 pound rock from above her head and it landed on Regan's face!! We are so lucky it didn't shatter her cheekbone! She was quite swollen and it's still tender, but she is not black and blue and nothing is broken. It was a hard painful lesson for Delaney to learn, but she now understands the reason WHY rocks are not to played with around anyone, and especially not to be dropped near anyone, even as an "expawument" (experiment) geesh!

No news is.......NOT good news!!

I have no news. Just this funny little picture. We are finished chasing our last piece of paper and it is in the mail to our homestudy agency. YEAH!!!! Now we just need to get our visits in and hope that they will get our homestudy update finished in a timely manner. After we receive our finished homestudy report, we send it off to the USCIS, (immigration) and wait for our I-171 ( The U.S. governments permission to bring Miller home, currently taking 6-8 weeks) Once we have this LAST thing, we send all of our notarized documents ( 14 total) off to the Secretary of State to be signed off on,(currently taking 2 weeks and up) and then to the Chinese Consulate in Chicago to be authenticated.( currently taking about 6 weeks) Once we have them all back, they will go to our agency to be translated and bound, and then OFF TO CHINA! It is currently taking 3-4 months to get TA (travel approval). Once we have that, they will request a CA (consulate appt.) at the American Embassy in Guangzhou. Once that is official, we will get to actually go to China to bring our precious little boy home. We are still holding out hope that we can get our paperwork to China by December, but...UGH!! SO there you have it. A quick tutorial of China adoption jargon and the process. Keep thinking good (quick!) thoughts!!

We've told the whole fam damily!!

We are NOT good at keeping secrets!! It is just too hard to contain our excitement so we shared the good news with our families this past weekend. Yeah!! Now we can shout it from the rooftops!! Regan enjoyed playing "ding dong ditch" on her grandparents! She placed the card with Miller's pictures in it and left it on their door step. She rang the doorbell and RAN!! We were a little nervous when we drove back by because by the looks of things, PopPop was right back on the sofa with his newspaper! So Regan ran up again to make sure they had found it, and they had. Randy was on the phone with them by the time we got home. Regan said "Now, my friends parent's wouldn't drive them to play ding dong ditch on their grandparents." It is always good when you have an opportunity to remind your kids how cool you are! We told Granny at her birthday celebration on Saturday. They are all very excited to have a new grandson!! Delaney is already making a list of things that are going to be off limits to her "little" brother...poor kid! Still plowing through paperwork. We are really, really hoping to have our dossier logged into China by December so we have a possibility of bringing Miller home in early spring so THINK GOOD THOUGHTS AND SAY LOTS OF PRAYERS THAT THINGS GO SMOOTHLY AND QUICKLY!! Don't forget to read the archives to learn how Miller found us....his forever family!
